The Creative Power of Sound

Sound is among the most transformative energies on the planet. Sound can restore balance and harmony to our lives. Conversely, sound also has the ability to adversely affect us and bring our already strained vibrational rates to new levels of imbalance.
The ancients knew what modern physicists now understand — that all is in a state of constant vibration. They share the belief that the world was created through sound. In Genesis, the first book of the Old Testament, one of the first statements is: ‘And the Lord said “Let there be light”.’ John wrote in the New Testament: ‘In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God, and the Word was God.’ From the Vedas of the Hindu tradition comes an almost identical statement: ‘In the beginning was Brahman with whom was the Word. And the Word is Brahman.’
The ancient Egyptians believed that the god Thoth created the world by his voice alone. In Popul Vah, the sacred text of Mayan tradition, the first real people are given life by the sole power of the `word‘. The Hopi story of creation tells that all animals were created by Spider Woman singing the Songs of Creation over them.
Each letter of the Hebrew alphabet has a numeric value: the first three letters of the alphabet, Aleph, Beth and Gimel, have values 1, 2 and 3, respectively, and so on through the entire 22-letter alphabet.
Kabalists believe that calculating the numeric value of a word defines its archetypal eternal essence. Therefore, any two words or phrases that have the same numerical value will also have the same essence. The art of finding words with the same numeric value is called gematria and is usually conducted on biblical names and names of angels.
